Iceland has been one of the pioneers in exploration, development and use of geothermal resources during the last century; over two thirds of the primary energy used in Iceland is derived from geothermal resources, and most of the remainder from hydropower.

The two constituent companies have been, and still are, the principal providers of services in the fields of geothermal sciences, hydropower and direct utilization and consulting to the Icelandic power industry, and the Icelandic government. They also provide such services to numerous foreign companies and governments all over the world.

GeoThermHydro can thus draw upon extensive experience and a long history in geothermal activities and hydropower through its Icelandic constituent companies.
